Peg's Custom Teardrop
Construction Continues, Assembly of the cabin!!!
As you have noticed, I have spent a lot of time pre-fabbing the walls and other components of the body.
Now comes the moment when it all comes together!

Here's the floor at about 9:00
in the morning!
Day 1, Friday...I took a vacation day...A day of Teardrop-building is better than a day of work!

The first wall is up!
I placed polyurethane construction adhesive in the slot in the bottom of the wall. This slot slides onto the floor. I clamped it in place and added a few screws, driven through the floor, into the wood below the slot. I place the screws so that they will be covered by the flooring or paint.

The bulkheads and cabinet frames come next. Glue in the slots and a few carefully placed screws hold things.

It's not even coffee-break time yet!!

The second wall is up, and a shelf installed!
The cabinets are outlined in the framework. Partitions will be added to define the cabinet spaces.

I wasn't excactly sure where the last set of interior cabinets would fall, so, I built the framing on the bench to fit in place.

Enough for today!..Done at 3:00

Here's a view from the galley through to the cabin.

Day 2, Saturday
Today's focus is to build the partitions that will create the cabinets. I will build the partitions from cherry-ply and light glue blocks.
The goal is to build the camper as light as possible. This method is strong, and a lot lighter than solid plywood!

I built the floor of the cabin's storage bins with a laminated ply/foam/ply panel.
There will be a layer of insulation between the galley and the cabin. This is the second of three sections that get insulated. The wall between the galley and cabin cabinets will get insulated also. The lower bulkhead was insulates as I built it on the bench.

The bottoms of the interior cabinets are done. Tomorrow, Ill add the partitions to create the cabinet spaces.

After a date for breakfast with Phyll, and a 11:00AM start, a nice 4-hour day!

It's Sunday! After church and a nap, I got to the shop around 3:00PM. By 5:00, I had the rest of the cabinets done!
All that's left is to figure out a door between the galley's center cabinet, to the cabin.

Here's the interior of the cabin. At the top are two cabinets with an opening between them. There will be a door to the galley that will flip down into the opening.
Below the cabinets, a shelf, and below that, two drop-front storage bins.
The cabinet layout is designed by Peg!

Next, I'll sand and varnish the cabinets and interior walls. Once that is done I'll add the headliner, which will complete the interior!
Other than some wiring, and hanging cabinet doors, all of the interior work will be done!
